What can be said here? So many profound musical experiences in the few short
years that I spent playing music with Jeremy Serwer. When I met him, he
had been working with Brandon Baca, a really cool guy named Steve Deins,
and quite a few others adding different elements.
Jeremy Serwer is a force of nature (this comes not from myself, but from an autority on the subject). We started playing and I immediately dug his music. We did a few shows with Brandon, then he had to go to be with his family. Miguel keeping the time and Ali with her beautiful voice and keyboards bought RMB into what I think of as the first really truly successful union that I was a part of. That combo with the occasional special guests (Janelle, Zach and others) played as a unit or in parts for a good time and had many memorable events. Miguel eventuall left to persue his musical material with some fabulous guitar work of his own. Before he left, we did record and a few of those songs are here for your edification. Check out SilverAndGold. In this interim window of time, we played a really rockin' gig with the extrordinary Doug Mateer on the kit at the Cobalt Lounge. If you were there, you'd know. I'd worked with Doug before, so it was a natural rythmic reunion. I am still good friends with him and we are still playing our own music together as Hegira. So along comes Simon Martin to play some of the most profound rhythm I've ever had the pleasure of slappin' the bass to. Simon, Jeremy, Ali and myself had some great sessions. I can only wish more of it was recorded. I'll get some better photos up of this trio. Simon represents the second successful phase that I experienced with RMB, including the weekend tour from Portland to Seattle, Eugene and back to Portland in two days. Before Jeremy had to return home to his roots in Duluth, he met Jim Maddox. Jim is another of the class of the percussional extrordinary. There exists a recording of an amazing session recorded with Jeremy and Jim and the girls of Acoustic Minds. It is still in the processing stage. I expect great things from it. And most recently, Jeremy has returned from his cross country trek. We are again playing as RMB, but with the amazing Mel Cooper on electric guitar and Jess Goodwin poundin' on the drums. We just played our first live show with the new line-up at the Mock Crest in Portland and there is some of that recording available for download now. Check out Mock Crest Live.
